“The smell of good bread baking, like the sound of lightly flowing water, is indescribable in its evocation of innocence and delight…” — M.F.K. Fisher, The Art of Eating
The smell of fresh baked bread takes me back to my childhood and a small bakery that used to be in Raleigh, NC called Big Sky Bread Company. The aromas that floated out of their cozy kitchen would blow your mind. Sweet cinnamon rolls and fresh rolls. Amazing. Though more and more home bakers are starting to bake their own bread, we still wanted to know where to find the best baked bread in New York City!

With lots of research, we found that Silver Moon Bakery is the favorite! Located at 2740 Broadway @ 105 Street, this sweet spot “has people lining up for morning coffee and still-warm croissants, or to stock up on home-made specialties like almond macaroons. . .” Robin Pogrebin, New York Times, August 2002.
